Lest we forget
ANZAC Day goes beyond the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915. It is the day we remember all Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. The spirit of ANZAC, with its human qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for Australia's sense of national identity.
On ANZAC day, ceremonies are held in towns and cities across the nation to acknowledge the service of our veterans. More than 130,000 Australian and 30,000 New Zealanders lost their lives during the war. Most of them young people for the love of family and country, their hopes, aspiration and sacrifice. Around the world, commemorative services were held in more that 70 countries including Brunei every 25th April each year.
